The brief
This was a university project where the brief was to create an interactive experience using video. I decided to focus on something close to home — mountain biking — and designed a narrative that encouraged users to explore different routes, return to the top, and try a new path.
Concept
The concept was built around a simple idea: using storytelling and interaction to keep users engaged. The viewer follows a rider through various trail choices, making decisions along the way that shape the story. Each route has its own tone and narrative, and the aim was to make people want to rewatch and try again — much like you would on a real ride.
Design process
The design process followed a user-centred approach. I used methods like the PACT framework, storyboards, flowcharts and user testing to develop the structure and make sure the experience was intuitive. I created personas to get a clearer picture of who I was designing for, and mapped out user journeys to build a structure that felt both fun and easy to follow.

Storyboard
The interactive video was built in EkoStudio, with visual elements like buttons and interface graphics created in Illustrator. I used Miro to sketch out flows and build the structure. Testing with users helped me simplify areas that felt too complex and improve the overall flow.
The result
This project was a good mix of storytelling, interface thinking and UX design — and an opportunity to explore how interaction can enhance a narrative experience. Click the button below to try the experience for yourself!
